Champa Garden - Redding, CA

On this road trip to Vancouver, BC, we couldn't cover as much distance as we usually do in the past. We left Bay Area late around 1 pm and decided to take it easy on the first day. Redding was our choice to rest for the night.

It was a pretty hot day with temperature around 85 when we approached Redding. Not wanting to come out again once we reached our hotel room so we decided to do a take out at Champa Garden. On Yelp it was labeled as Thai and Laotian restaurant. Their menu showed different options as well. We ordered papaya salad Thai style and pad see ew (stir fry rice noodle) with mixed veggies.

The papaya salad was pretty spicy because I asked for it to be a bit spicy. The cabbage was supposed to be used to tame the heat down. But hubby mixed it all together. So we ended up drinking water instead. The salad was pretty good though I think it seemed like it's missing fish sauce maybe ? I asked if they use marinated crab and the girl who took my order said no.

Hubby's pad see ew (stir fry rice noodle) was not bad. It's missing the typical burnt smell that comes from high heat stir fry. So he was a bit disappointed. Taste wise was okay. Didn't feel that they used tons of MSG on both of our orders. So that was a plus.

All in all decent result from a Thai restaurant in Redding. I didn't expect it to be pretty good.
