Amanek Asakusa Azumabashi Sky - Tokyo, Asakusa, Japan

It's not easy to get a hotel room that is clean in a decent location and still within budget. Especially for Tokyo area where everything is pretty expensive. Last year we found that Airbnb was a better deal compared to hotels because for almost the same price we also got a portable wifi which would come handy to keep us connected to social media. But changes in regulation required property owner to have license before renting them out through Airbnb. The prices on Airbnb have been adjusted accordingly and they are no longer better than hotels.

This Amanek hotel has been listed on Agoda as newly built when I made reservation. Nothing is more promising than a new clean hotel room to sleep in. The location is pretty close to Asakusa which is another plus to give us more chance to explore Asakusa area more thoroughly. And we got lucky that when we checked in we were upgraded to a bigger room with few of Tokyo Skytree. Yay !



Just like any hotel in Tokyo, the room was small but packed with all amenities needed. The bath soap, shampoo and conditioner were normal size which is more enviromentally friendly since there will be no small bottles to be thrown away every day. Toilet was separate from bathroom and was equipped with all kind of options that made western style toilet seemed behind in civilization.

One review I read complaint of lack of restaurant in the hotel and lousy breakfast. We didn't care for restaurant nor breakfast. There is a Matsuya chain restaurant that opens 24 hours just around the corner from the hotel. And if you have been to Japan you would know that one could find convenient store like 7 Eleven, Family Mart, etc that offers plenty of options of breakfast items.
