We arrived in Kyoto at Kyoto station and then transferred to Hankyu line to go to Omiya Station. After the registration there was another email sent to us with a link for direction to hotel on Google map. Unfortunately it was in Japanese so I didn't use that link. But that's why we went to the wrong hotel. Grand Japaning Hotel has a lot of location in Kyoto. Ours was Grand Japaning Hotel Central Omiya/Shijo Omiya. But when we did a search on Google, the result was Grand Japaning Hotel Omiya so we walked to that hotel which was still within walking distance from Omiya Station. But then we tried to use the code to enter the hotel and it didn't work. Luckily there was a phone by the entrance which enabled us to speak to a representative. He found our reservation and told us that we went to a different hotel. He then gave us a new code which allowed us to go into the hotel and use our phone to scan a QR code for direction to our hotel.
This Central Omiya/Shijo Omiya hotel didn't show up on Google search because it had partial kanji character on it. This is the link for the Google map. This hotel is actually even closer to Omiya Station. So if you are arriving on train at Omiya Station select exit #3. When you climb up to the street level look for the small street next to Daiso (Kuromon Dori). From there it's just a few minutes walk.

Now after we managed to get in the lobby there was a tablet for us to do our check in process. The tablet took pictures of our passports during check in process and then we got a set of codes for room access. Pretty straight forward and we loved not having had to carry key card/keys with us.
The hotel was indeed newly built. We could smell the 'newness' in the room. We got four pillows ! That's the most amount of pillows we ever gotten in any hotel in Japan on this trip. That makes Grand Japaning Hotel our second best hotel after Meitetsu Inn Nagoya.
Other than four pillows, we got the pretty common amenities like water kettle, smart phone (which we didn't try), hair dryer and tea cups and tea bags. I think we did use up all the tea bags provided since we were there for three days.
Another reason we loved this hotel was the free washing machine and dryer on first floor. Though it took quite a long time to dry our clothes but it was very helpful for us not having had to go out and look for laundry.
