Love For Pho - Vancouver

Discovery this Pho place recently when we were driving on Kingsway. Finally had a chance to try it this weekend.

The place felt cozy with some holiday decorations up. The table got glass cover with big print out that they only accept cash and debit card for payment. The chairs were a bit mismatched. But the ones we were using were darker wooden chairs and pretty comfortable.

The menu surprisingly was pretty extensive. They offered selection of noodle soups, stir fry noodles and rice plates as well. Among noodle soups I found an interesting option - beef and chicken noodle soup. Hubby ordered hu tieu nam Vang, a Cambodian style noodle soup.

Our noodle took quite a while to come out. But the bean sprouts was already blanched. The blanched sprouts kept the soup warm during winter time when soup got colder faster.

My noodle soup tasted pretty strong and flavorful but a bit oily for my taste. Though I couldn't quite figured out whether it's beef or chicken flavor. It tasted like a mix of all those and pork too maybe. The beef was thinly sliced but cooked already. The chicken  was thigh meat, smaller pieces with skin on but very tough.

Hubby's noodle soup got quail eggs, sliced pork, sliced pork liver and prawns. The soup was more pork flavor than my soup. But sliced pork and pork liver were both very tough and chewy.

All in all the winner was the barbecue pork roll which had grilled Vietnamese spam and another crunchy item. I was expecting the barbecue pork to be the marinated pork like other place we have been. For now we are not sure we'll be back anytime soon. But if we do go back it would be safer to order regular beef noodle soup. Maybe they do better with beef noodle soup.
