Monticello Motel - Portland, OR

This road trip to California started late in the afternoon due to BMO Marathon that hubby joined. We had to change our plan because the original dates I picked had already booked by my boss. That's not going to work. So I had to move it a week earlier which coincided with BMO Marathon. Anyhow we tried to make it work for both so we left the same day after the marathon. Tiring but that's why we cut the journey shorter to just five hours on Sunday.

Five hours got us to Portland and I happened to find this motel just outside Portland. The price was very decent and the reviews were not bad.

We pulled in around 7 pm. Lobby was locked but there's a bell. Apparently the owner was having dinner. We filled out a form and provided ID and credit card for payment. Within minutes got our key card and off we went to our room.

The room was a bit old but there was sign that some areas have been remodeled. There was a huge flat screen TV, a fridge and microwave. Didn't get to use any of those so no comments there. Bathroom sink has been remodeled with a cute vanity sink. I did find the sink a bit too small and was hard for us to leave our toothbrushes there without them falling in the sink. The light on the mirror was surround light - not sure if that's the correct term. But unlike those lights that shines harsh on our complexion, these surround lights gave a soft glowy light on my face which I liked.

We got a king size bed which was a free upgrade according to the lady owner. The mattress was sort of soft but the pillows were quite thick.

There's no breakfast provided which was fine by us. All in all it was a decent stay. Though later on we found out that Travelodge in Roseburg offers a better value. But of course location wise this motel is just off Portland so I guess the price was actually very decent.
