Baan Malai Guest House - Chiang Rai, Thailand

Our flight from Penang, Malaysia required a transit in Bangkok. It was passed 9 pm by the time we arrived in Chiang Rai. Our host took us for some hot noodle soup before dropping us off at our hotel. I got pictures of our room before it got messed up and we laid down and snoozed.

The next day I took a look around our room. Most furniture in the room were made of real wood. Sturdy wood not particle board one. Across from our bed against the other side of the room was a dressing table with big mirror. There was a basket on it with hair dryer and also water kettle. Next to the dresser table was a medium size fridge with 2 bottles of water on top of it.

I pulled open the curtain and opened up the rolling door behind it. The balcony was a decent size balcony with 2 tree trunk stools. We loved this balcony and spent most of our times in the hotel sitting there watching the activities at the other guest house across the street.

Our room was on the third floor which was also highest. No elevator. We were fine with it and considered that our exercise. The view and breeze was worth the climb.

Breakfast was served on ground floor next to the tiny lobby area. Bread, toast, tea, coffee, orange juice and freshly cooked eggs (sunny side up or scramble your choice). The sitting area was beautiful and refreshing with partial open air next to a fish pond.

Location wise was close to Chiang Rai night market and bus terminal. Like about 10 minutes walk. We definitely would consider staying there again next time if we are visiting Chiang Rai.
