Petaling Jaya Food Court @ Resort World Genting - Genting, Malaysia

It's our first time visiting Genting so it took some research trying to figure out where to stay. In the end we decided not to stay at First World Hotel up at the top. I was tempted as it's close to Resort World Genting which is practically a huge mall.

We went there for a day trip instead. I thought we could spent hours there. But in the end it's just another mall with a casino and an indoor amusement park. Well, we didn't try the amusement park. We went there for lunch so our main focus at the time was looking for a place to have lunch. We found Petaling Jaya food court. It housed more than ten vendors with a varieties of food to choose from. We walked through everything before deciding on dry bak kut teh (dry form of pork ribs cooked in spices) and Penang char kuey teow (Penang style fried rice noodle).

The food court didn't accept cash so we first needed to purchase a prepaid card from one of the vending machines. The machine was pretty self explanatory. There was a RM5 deposit that we couldn't use but we could get it back if we returned the card. We soon got our card and ready to place our orders.

The decor of Petaling Jaya was set with red lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The tables and chairs were dark wood. There was a glass window to allow natural lights coming in which helps to brighten the place and perhaps even make it a bit warmer. 😂

Both our orders were delicious. The dry bak kut teh was not overly seasoned with spices compared to the soup version. The soup version was never quite my cup of tea. Once I tried the dry version I was hooked. The dry version was basically pork ribs with some seasoning. And the seasoning wasn't even close to the soupy version. This time my dry version was served with rice. It looked dark with some dry chilies on top. Not overly salty considering the dark color.

Hubby enjoyed his Penang char kuey teow. It had the right amount of smokiness and all the taste of a good Penang char kuey teow.
