Restoran Hock Seng Part 3 - Petaling Jaya, Malaysia
We frequented this kopitiam very often during our stay at a near by airbnb. Compared to a few months ago, there was some changes but the key players are still the same.
Thai Food (zone B)
This vendor I believe was new and just set up while we were there. Previously the spot was occupied by a soup seller. It has stir fry dishes includes pad thai and kangkong. Also omelette. I saw they offered stir fry vermicelli (pad woon sen) so that's what I ordered.
The dish was delicious. A Thai person may say it's not authentic as Thai dishes are usually on the sweeter side. I like this version instead because it's less sweet and a bit dryer. Not oily.
Pork Noodle (zone A)
On this visit to Petaling Jaya, this was the third version of pork noodle that I have tried. By far the best pork noodle. It's located at zone A of the Hock Seng Kopitiam. The seller is an old man with a lady helper that does delivery.
When you order pork noodle, they would ask you what type of noodle you would like. I usually get it with wide rice noodle (kway teow). They would also ask whether you want liver or some other parts. If you decline all offal then the pork noodle will only has ground pork.
I like the broth. Clean and simple with a tiny bit taste of pork. It came with a small container of soy sauce with chopped chili padi. Be careful with those babies, a wrong move would set you on fire ! 😱
This particular seller uses pork lard and it's so fragrant and yummy.
