My cellphone provider Telkomsel must have sold my phone numbers along with possibly millions of other Telkomsel users to all these business. As the result, every so often I would receive promo text messages. Buy one get one free or buy six pieces of KFC fried chicken for IDR 100k (USD 6.12) for example.
One day I received a text message of BUY 1 GET 1 FREE to Zenbu, a Japanese restaurant. I have been meaning to visit this restaurant. So I thought great opportunity. I could make use of this offer.
That evening we went to Zenbu at the 4th floor. I believe it was the same floor as the food court. The place is nice. Inside so shiny it looks like a casino ! 😂
The menu was pretty extensive. From appetizer like agedashi tofu and karaage to their specialty of mozaru dishes. Mozaru from what I see looks like a fusion dish using mozzarella cheese. Yes, if you love mozzarella like I do mozaru seems like a no brainer. 😍
The waitress that met us at the table was friendly and helpful. She asked if we have been there before. Then explained a bit about the menu. I showed her the text message I received and she said no problem we could use it. When I asked which one qualified the buy 1 get 1 she pointed to a few pages on the menu. I thought no problem we could confirm with her once we were done looking at the menu.
So when ordering I checked with her which one would we get the free one. Then she explained that we would get free chicken teriyaki. Eh, that's all 😒. I told her that I thought I could get a similar item for free. I was half expecting that I could get another hamburg mozaru for free. 😝
Anyhow we still enjoyed the food. My hamburg mozaru was a thick almost rounded beef patty on top of a melted bed of mozzarella. When I dug through the cheese, I found shirataki noodle. I think the mozzarella wasn't the only thing in the combo, I tasted mayonaise as well. If shirataki isn't your cup of noodle, then you could take rice or pasta.
Dad loved his platter of beef teppanyaki. He was like, this is all for me ? 😜 The teppanyaki platter didn't come with rice so if you need rice, order one separately. Or like us, mom ordered a rice bowl and shared the rice with dad.
The free teriyaki chicken was good. A bit smoky and just enough sweetness. The dragon roll we got was good but a bit small. I think there were only five or six pieces.
All in all I loved the place. I see opportunities to try other dishes there as well. We haven't tried their ramen or curry. The picky eater in our group seemed to enjoy their choices as well. So I see our future with Zenbu is pretty bright. 😎
