Hachi Grill - Jakarta, Indonesia

On this trip there was a special celebration. A birthday celebration of a family member. There were a few places we had in mind and in the end we chose Hachi Grill. There are a few locations for this chain restaurant, the closest one to us is the Sunter location.

The price scheme was quite elaborate. Weekday and weekend price were different. Then there were adult, seniors and kids prices. If you like shabu (hotpot) only then pay less for that option alone. Same if you want yakiniku (grill) only then pay for that option alone. We paid for combo price with "regular" beef. There were options for special beef, special salmon and prime. In my opinion, the regular package was good enough. The beef selections was massive and of pretty good cut.

For shabu (hotpot) there were selections for the broth from simple collagen, tomyum, tori dashi, konbu dashi and kimchee. Tori dashi tends to be salty savory while konbu dashi leans on sweet savory side. Tomyum is spicy and tangy while kimchee is spicy, tangy and sweet.

Other than the ingredients for shabu and yakiniku, there were plenty of snacks ready to enjoy. Sushi roll, rujak (fruit salad), teriyaki beef and chicken, pasta, french fries, salty & pepper chicken. The desserts were so varied from Thai cassava with sweet coconut milk dressing, crispy waffle with different topping and also ice dessert (es campur).

Hachi Grill is good for birthday celebration as the place is big. We can enjoy the meal and I meant varieties of meal. For birthday person, there was a "special team" that would visit the table to deliver a small birthday wish dessert along with singing and dancing. 😁
