Pigcasso - Jakarta, Indonesia

Went there for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was not our choice but the other restaurant that we went to didn't look convincing so we bailed.

While searching for another spot, we passed by this establishment. A quick Google review search showed the menu they offer. I thought the menu was interesting and could fit the people in our group. Though seriously the name of the restaurant says it all. 😁

But from what I heard their menu has not been always like that. That's good that means their menu did change every so often. I like what the menu looks right now so hopefully we could visit them in the future again.

We ordered two different style of baby back ribs. One with bbq sauce and the other with peanut sauce. We also ordered their porchetta (Signature Italian Roasted Pork). On last thought I threw in an order of pork soto. If you are not into community sharing kinda of meals, there were also option for personal plate.

The porchetta actually tasted very similar to Balinese babi guling. 😁 It's tasty and suits Indonesian taste buds especially with the two sambal provided. The skin was crispy and it went well with the sambal.

The baby back ribs were quite tender though I saw room for improvement still. The original baby back ribs was served with fries. While the other version was served with peanut sauce. I thought the peanut sauce was brilliant. It gives a sweet savory and rich taste to the ribs.

I think the one that was a bit of a let down was the pork soto. It was served with emping (a chips made of melinjo nuts) sambal and a wedge of lime. Some of the protein was sliced pork and some small bits of pork ribs. The sliced pork was lacking in flavor. I think all pork ribs would have been better. Or perhaps some pork roast as topping ?

Total bill IDR 508200 (USD 30.43) that amounts already included 5% of service charge.
