Kedai Lur - Yogyakarta, Indonesia

On the third day of our visit in Yogyakarta, we didn't have any plan for meals as all the items we wanted to try have already been fulfilled. So I searched the map for ideas and found this restaurant a bit off Malioboro.

From the reviews it seems that this restaurant is quite popular even among foreigners. So maybe a bit touristy though it's not on Malioboro. The menu seemed simple but had a few items that I have never tried like mi godhog and bronkos. I sort of had an idea what mi godhog is but have no clue what bronkos is.

So we set off walking to the restaurant when it's close to lunch time. The restaurant opened at 11 am so any earlier and they would not be open. We passed by the train station but from different side. We also passed by the rail road track which was closed when a train passed through.

There was a table with a few people when we finally reached there. We chose a table on the side and sat ourselves down. A woman came out, greeted us and brought us the menu. She explained a few things on the menu and left us to write down what we wanted to order.

Other than what I thought of which were bronkos and mi godhog we ended up adding fried banana as well. While waiting for our orders to be prepared, we took in our surrounding. The restaurant had a homey feel as its dining area is a courtyard with trees around. Our table itself was under a wooden gazebo.

The fried banana was a bit different as the batter was panko. One portion consisted of three bananas. The bananas were not ripe enough but I liked it that there was no sugar added. The mi godhog was noodle cooked with some veggies and tomatoes. The taste was pretty mild. Reminded me of boiled instant noodle. 😜 Bronkos was like a soupy version of gudeg ? The broth was dark brown color with hard boiled egg, tofu and super soft beef tendon. Bronkos was served with rice.

Total bill came to IDR 91k (USD 5.48). That amount included food and two drinks without tips.
