Yang's Braised Chicken - Jakarta, Indonesia
Last weekend me and hubby went out to try this restaurant within our neighborhood. I have heard about this restaurant which is a franchise restaurant. I have also seen a few more similar ones within this area. I'm curious whether they are really special to have such a market ?
The location we visited was on Jalan Muara Karang Raya, tugged between shops along that road. Parking was limited on the road side. We were lucky we found a spot almost in front of the restaurant. It was lunch time and the place was pretty busy but not crowded.
We were greeted when we went in and assigned a table. The place looked clean and rather new. I heard that the rice is free flow and I saw a sign that rice is counted per person. Darn it, I'm not a carb eater so I felt a bit unfair. The cost of rice per person was IDR 10k (USD 0.60).
I thought they only have braised chicken but turned out they offered other dishes like beef, fish and vegetables. The only difference between regular restaurants and this one (perhaps) was the food was presented on a hot bowl.
I thought since this brand is actually a Chinese Mainland franchise brand maybe we could taste some different taste of Chinese food. In reality though I found most of the dishes we ordered were mediocre. Nothing special. Some for my taste buds were a bit too salty. Perhaps most of their dishes have been adjusted to local taste ?
