First Meal in Wudang Mountain - Wudangshan, China
The day we arrived in Wudang Mountain was already half a day gone. But we decided to walk to the ticket office anyway to look for information. We then walked into one of the big restaurant there that faces the shops. I didn't have the name of the restaurant.
We ordered a braised pork dish, a stir fry wild vegetable dish, a braised fish dish and bread to go with the dishes. Other than the braised pork, the rest of the dishes were recommended to us.
The restaurant was not too busy. In fact, other than our table, I think there was only another table. I noticed a woman came in, looked at the menu and left.
There was an old man that seemed friendly and talked to us ever since we walked in. When we finally got our dishes, he mentioned something about being able to read our palms or tell our fortune. I wasn't paying attention as I found his Mandarin was hard to understand. My SIL got intrigued and went to sit down with him. I jokingly told hubby that it could be a bait like those online games. He'd tell you a bit and then asked you to pay if you want an explanation. Funny thing was, SIL came back unhappy and told us that the old man requested payment. 😉
In the end we were all shocked with the bill. It came to RMB 500 (USD 70). I knew the fish was RMB 200. I was looking at a different fish dish but since that was recommended I thought why not. I did not like the way this restaurant was running its business. After all we ordered, the lady still tried to get us to order more. From my experience at other family run restaurant, they usually would tell us that we have ordered enough or else we would not be able to finish.
Adding insult to the price we paid, the fish was too salty. Perhaps it wasn't fresh to begin with. So annoying.
