Jincheng Chaozhou Restaurant 金成潮州酒楼 - Guangzhou, China

The previous night, we found a chaozhou restaurant in the neighborhood of our hotel. We gave it a try and was left dangling. We ordered a few things but the only satisfying dish was the braised goose. That was their specialty.

The following day I decided to give chaozhou cuisine another try. This restaurant was recommended by my aunt. I prepicked a few dishes from their online menu and ran it by my parents. It's pretty much the same items we ordered the previous night at the other restaurant.

The braised goose platter here didn't just feature goose but it also came with pork. The meat was thinly sliced so it wasn't chewy nor gamey. The oyster omelette looked the same as the one we had at the other restaurant but this one tasted fresh. We could taste the oysters here as oppose to just some salty batter at the other restaurant.

The beef fried noodle was okay in my opinion. Nothing too special. The veggie which we thought would be soup turned out to be not very soupy. But not bad, still.

Then the waitress came to us and asked if we would like to give them a review on Dianping in exchange for some appetizer. I was going to wiggle out of it by saying that I'm a foreigner and not very good in Chinese. But she managed to convince me and the reward was calling my name. So I gave in.

The reward was the red peach cake which I was curious but didn't want to order in case they didn't turn out well. The truth was they were not as good as our homemade version. So I was glad we did try it but happy that we didn't have to pay for it. As for the review, I wrote down a review in English, translated it and copy pasted it on Dianping page. The lady came back to take a photo of it. Voila.
