Koko Hawker @ Emporium - Jakarta, Indonesia
We visited this location during the long holiday of Eid (Lebaran). The location at Emporium Mall is relatively new compared to the location at Muara Karang Market.
Emporium Pluit Mall is home to a handful of spots just like Koko Hawker—think classic Singaporean kopitiam vibes serving up that perfect trio of kaya toast, thick coffee, and local comfort food. When we arrived which was hardly 12, it was not busy yet. But lucky for us not long after it got busy which was not too surprising as the place wasn't very big.
We ordered nasi lemak with fried chicken and chicken rendang. Then an order of curry mee and mie tomat. For drinks we got plain hot tea and hot teh tarik. While waiting I noticed a sign that there's a mandatory extra service charge during Eid Holiday but the sign didn't specify the period of the extra service charge.
The nasi lemak looked pretty good. The fried chicken version had half hard boiled egg along with sambal, then some crispy anchovies and fried emping. If fried chicken wasn't your plate of nasi then the chicken curry one looked more appetizing with curry gravy on the plate as well.
The mie tomat was great with additional sambal in it. The only order that looked below my expectation was the curry noodle which looked a bit sad. The gravy was a bit too thick in a bad way. It tasted like it was thicken with starch.
