甄記炭火瓦煲雞飯 Yan Kee Claypot Chicken Rice - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

A few days after we got our fill of claypot rice, a friend of hubby invited us for a dinner at a famous claypot rice restaurant. This restaurant is supposedly famous for cooking their claypot rice with charcoal, not just on the bottom of the pot but also on top of the pots! That resulted in a dryer rice.

The options for topping here is more traditional e.g. chicken, salted fish and chinese sausage. We also tried the option with yam aka taro. Just like the other claypot rice we went to at Atria, there were also a varieties of soup and vegetables here. This restaurant actually has more options on their menu compare to Choong Kee at Atria.

One thing worth noted here, the wait could be pretty long since it takes longer time to cook for each pot of rice. When we arrived at 6:30ish for dinner, the place was not super busy. By the time we were done an hour later there was a line waiting outside. Some were taking photos of the stove area where rows of claypots were being cooked with sparkling hot charcoal. I suspect some of them were tourists like us.

They do accept orders online as well. I was not sure whether it was done through WhatsApp or some online ordering platform. We were stucked in traffic for quite some time but by the time we arrived, we only waited for about ten minutes before our first pot of rice was brought to us. The second one took a bit of time to arrive.
