Khao Soi of Sala Thai - Vancouver

I was scrolling through Instagram and saw that Sala Thai offered Khao Soi kit. Khao soi is a noodle dish from Northern Thailand. We had Khao soi last time we visited Chiang Rai. Khao soi is usually serves with yellow noodle with curry like broth and coconut milk based. The toppings are some crispy fried noodle strips, cut shallot, pickle green mustard and a slice of lime.

Khao soi is one of hubby's fave noodle so he jumped on it quickly and placed an order. The price was very decent. Just $22 gets you one noodle kit for 2. And I think there was some sort of discount going on because I only paid a little bit over $20 when I went to pick it up.

The only thing that I think could be improved is noodle kits pickup is only available Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. So if you crave khao soi on Monday you would have to wait a few more days. 😅

This noodle kit came uncooked for the noodle. That's the only thing that you really need to boil water and cook on a stove. The curry broth and chicken pretty much is microwaveable. We boiled hot water to cook the noodle to its al dente state. Put it on 2 separate bowls. Heated up the curry broth along with the chicken drumstick. Pour the curry broth on top of the noodle. Arrange the topping. Squirt the lime provided. You are good to start slurping on your noodle.

The broth for this khao soi was pretty rich and creamy. It was a bit more on the sweet side in my opinion since I like savory taste. There was two decent size of chicken thigh meat in the curry and two separate drumsticks. Will definitely try other options in their Sala Thai At Home online order.
